Choose the Bike

Riding a Bicycle Offers Innumerable Benefits

Choosing to ride a bicycle is just one way we can take time to be present in our local environment, which also happens to offer an enormous set of additional benefits:

Improve Your Health

Riding a bicycle improves your life in multiple ways. Not only will choosing a bike help you stay healthy, but it can also help you lose weight, build muscles, increase your cardiovascular health, and improve your general well being. If you participate in cycling events, you can help combat loneliness and become part of a community.

Biking helps reduce stress and helps create a positive mental outlook. By reducing stress, you have the potential to reduce depression and anxiety disorders. You may also sleep better because of the physical exercise and stress reduction. Your relationships may also improve, provided you do not cycle to excess, because you may be better able to communicate and respond to others simply because you feel better.

Riding a bicycle is the closest you can get to flying, without the inconvenience of airports or the risk of plummeting from 30,000 feet.

Avoid Traffic Jams

Instead of sitting a car or sitting on the sofa, choosing to ride a bicycle will help you feel more productive. There are no traffic jams on a bicycle. You can spend time with your children and other loved ones, while engaging in an enjoyable activity. Although a long bicycle ride may leave you feeling physically drained, it will ultimately boost your available energy and you will feel stronger.

The economic costs of traffic are substantial. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, in 1982, the United States consumed 0.8 billion gallons of fuel just sitting in traffic. That number has increased to 3.3 billion gallons in 2022, and will likely increase further in the future. Cycling burns fat, not gasoline, and any reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels will help our environment.

Save our Planet

Cycling is a responsible choice for those who wish to help our environment. It saves money because there are no monthly insurance costs like cars, and you do not need to stop for gas once a week. You will spend less time in traffic, and enjoy the freedom of being outside. You can take in the scenery, the wind, the weather, the smells of the outdoors, and slow your life down to a convenient pace.
